OT fun, and more

I decided I wanted to find a busy little activity for Kylie during the times when I have things I need to get done.  One of the things I thought to do was to get out my jar of buttons and let Kylie sort them by color.  I save egg cartons to use when painting or doing crafty things with Kylie, and thought it would be perfect for sorting out the buttons.

I think it worked out pretty well too :)

She even decided she wanted to do more after sorting out all the ones I dumped out for her.

So this is a little sheet that Kylie's OT made for her to help with trying new foods.  Eating has never been real great...she doesn't like eating around others, and definitely is opposed to lots of foods....I'm glad to say this chart has helped a lot!  The idea is to get Kylie to do all the things on the sheet, and then take bites like a mouse, elephant and so forth.  We even have a small sized version of this to take when we are out to eat.

Once a week now Kylie gets to swim during her OT session, and she loves it!  She is always anxious and never talks to her OT when she comes out to get us, but on the days she goes swimming she warms up and is more social and starts talking to her OT by the time we get back to where we are going....amazing how the idea of swimming calms her down and she can be chatty!  We do have to be careful because she can get a little too excited and that makes it hard for her to focus and stay on task.  She is a total fish and loves to be in the water :)

Kylie has a hard time when we go to the store or somewhere and run into people we know.  It totally throws her off, and she is extremely anxious and stressed...almost like strangers are talking to her.  She just hides and gets upset if they try to talk to her or if we try to encouragement her to talk to them.  So, I decided to make a book of some of the stores we frequently go to and run into friends, and the actions we do when at these places.

The idea is for her to put the story together, and for her to see that it is okay when we see friends at the store or out and about (outside of where we are used to seeing, school, etc).  And that when we go to the store and she wants a cookie from the bakery or wants a sucker at the checkout, that she has to ask for it.  So if we see you at the store and she hides and I keep trying to get her to talk to you, please go along with it...we need to teach her that it's okay, and she needs to talk to her friends and be social.

This pic was just her making a silly face, and well...I just had to snap a pic and post it :)

We decided to go to Wonderscope one day, and the first room we went into was the Farm one...she got her cart and was picking out fruit from the market.

Need to get some veggies from the garden.

Looks like the cow needs to be groomed too.

I'm not sure the name of this room, just one where they had all sorts of different things for kids to build some stuff...I think she made a person with eyes, and probably some extra arms or legs.

This was kind of cute.  There was a big doll house, and I peaked through the one side to get a pic.

This room was pretty fun, they had ping pong balls and you could send them down the ramps and things and see if you could get the ball to land in a bucket.

I thought this was so cute when she wanted to play with the baby dolls at the doctor's office.  She was opposed to wearing the doctor's lab coat, but I told her it was the only way to play at the doctor's office....I know, it sounds bad but it's the only way to get her to try things.  She does look super cute wearing it...who knows, maybe she will be a doctor some day :)

Kylie has been going to Kindermusik ever since she was about 9 months old or so.  She absolutely loves going and seeing her Kindermusik pals!  Whenever we are in Matt's truck she says, "turn on my music please."  Don't be surprised if you hop in for a ride with us somewhere and we are cruising to the current CD for Kylie's Kindermusik class.  She even likes to have her own Kindermusik class at home...just take a look and see:

More things Kylie

So Kylie has suddenly taken a liking to soccer...okay, she loves it!  She can dribble it quite well for a 3 yr old too :)  When she first started to play around with her soccer ball in the front yard, she told me she was going to soccer class.

The next time she played outside, she was going to her soccer game!

Yay, good game!  Cheering for herself after the game!

Off to another will see her fancy wheels in the background.  She had to park her car first.

Looks like she traded the soccer ball for a blue one to play around is after all her favorite color!

Here is some video footage of her playing soccer in the yard.

Smiling so cute for dadda...he was standing behind me being silly so I could get a smiley pic of Kylie!

So tired after a long day of soccer games and practice in the front yard.

All of that play outside made for a hungry little let's make some pizza!  First off, poking some holes in the crust.

Spread on the sauce...

...and cheese.

Don't forget the pepperoni!

I think that's everything :)

Now it's time for a break and a sucker.

Valentine's Day had come up and I thought I would surprise Kylie and decorate her door for when she woke up in the morning...just show her how much love we had for her :)  She loved it, especially the smiley face one and the one with her one of course!

A shirt I made her to wear for Valentine's Day at school.

The kids had made Valentine Bags to put all their treats in...this was Kylie's.  She loves to pile things on top of one another.

The treats I made for her class....little bean bags they could use to play with...just cut out a large paper heart and toss them onto it.

The best for last...her Valentine that I attached to the little bag that had the bean bags in it.  I swear this is the best happy, smiley pic I have ever taken of her.  Yay!

All things Kylie

The first week of January we were showing support to a family who lost a little guy to IS.  It would have been his second birthday, and his mom had posted that they were letting balloons go for him.  We did the same for the little guy and his family.

There is just something so beautiful about those little hands letting go in the pic below.

I'm not sure when this happened...seems like forever ago, but we had scraped the popcorn off the ceiling in the family room, and had it smoothed and painted.  We were getting ready to touch up some spots, and Kylie thought she would help.  That pole is like a few times her size, but too cute!

Our friends had a birthday party for their sweet little girl that was turning two.  I got the cutest pic of Kylie just standing waiting for us to get permission to go into the play area for the party.  She just looked so sweet :)

Doesn't she look like a little gymnast in the making!

Matt helping the birthday girl down the slide...weeeeee!  (yep, I made her super cute monkey shirt!)

I love when they all line up and sit down for snacks and cake and such.  They are just so cute!

Nothing says party like some noisemakers!

So this is a little story about how it was Kylie's special day at school, and that means she gets to be the line leader and bring a snack and I get to go to school with her!  Well, it was also pajama day and they got to watch a movie and pop popcorn.  Well, they kind of forgot to mention that there is no need to bring a snack that day.

Mind you, that is such a highlight for Kylie to pick out some yummy snacks to share with her friends.  She was just devastated and wanted to know why her friends didn't want her snack and talked about it for the next couple of days, and was just so upset.  So I decided we needed to destroy the evidence, and eat all of the snacks she had picked out for her special day :)

Here is one of the things we did with the M&M cookies she brought...made ice cream sandwiches!  Yummy!!

Below is lots of cuteness!  Kylie's Grandma Nancy got us all tickets to go see Sesame Street Live!  Kylie loved it once she got comfortable.  It was such a cute show and it was fun to watch her sit with grandma and enjoy the show! Below she is with Matt at the Play Zone area they had before the show.

Having a moment with Grandma Nancy while Matt holds her.

Playing Elmo's piano for Grandma Nancy

Coloring a picture for Grandma Nancy...which is now hanging by her desk at work :)

SO cute...first time Kylie ever cuddle and sat so close to Grandma Nancy...Grandma was so excited!

Such a cute show!

Turning around to check that Matt and I were still there...yep, enjoying watching her and the show...every moment of it all!

Aww...I think she really likes it!

She has this little Elmo figurine deal and she had to take it to the show :)  It was a good thing for her to have as far as the sensory stuff goes, to keep her gripping on something and occupy her hands when she was stressed at the start of the show.  It was just cute because she never let go of him :)

Not sure what this little move is...she likes to do it a lot, like kick up her leg and spin or something silly.  Anyhow, one last dance with Elmo before heading home.
